Reflection On Using Technology

Throughout this semester I have learned a number of helpful ways I can someday use technology in the classroom. At the beginning of the class I didn't think I would actually learn many new things to use in the classroom. However, I was extremely wrong about that. Learning how to make a teacher web page was really cool! I do think that someday when I have my own classroom I would use a teacher web page. I think it would be a great way to keep in contact with family. So that parents can easy be able to see what is going on in their son or daughters classroom each week. Another one of my favorite things I have learned from this class is how to use picnic! Even though this isn't something I would most likely use in my classroom I have had a lot of fun using the program to edit photos. Overall I have learned a lot throughout this semester.

Podcasting

Podcasting
(1) Definition or description of podcasting- A podcast is an audio or a video file delivered automatically to your computer.
(2) How you will use podcasting in your classroom- to share current events, class lectures, students' progress.
(3) Pros and cons of podcasting- A con about using podcasting is that you may not have the technology, hardware or software available to use. Also, the use of podcasting maybe confusing for people who are not good with working with technology. There are also many pros about using podcasting however. It is a new and fun way to teach. It is a step up from regular classroom styles. It will be attention grabbing for students and they may be more enthusiastic about doing their work.

Ethics

1. Ethics: Is a system of moral character.
2. I think ethics will affect your relation ships with your students and your colleagues. Someone who has strong moral character is obvious and people tend to trust, and like people who are positive and nice to be around. This is a good characteristic to have as a teacher. For students to be able to look up to teacher is a very important thing. Also for colleagues to do the same thing.
3. Pros of being concerned with ethics is that parents and administrators can be sure that students in your class are in a safe and positive environment. A con of being concerned with ethics is that a teacher can not in a public school “preach” or talk about their faith.

Virtual T our

(1) What is a virtual tour: A virtual tour is a simulation of a place that is actually real. It can be made up of panoramic images, hyperlinked images, and videos. Other elements such as sound effects, music, narration, and text can be used. Virtual tours are often used on computers.
(2) How you will use virtual tours in your classroom: In my classroom I could use a virtual tour as a field trip for my students. Often money can be an issue to take students on a field trip. Especially the idea of going out of state or out of the country for a field trip is somewhat unrealistic especially at the elementary level. However, the use of virtual tours opens up a whole new world for use in classrooms.
(3) Pros and cons of using virtual tours: Pros for virtual tours can be many things. Students and teacher are able to explore more. It is a new, fun, and interesting way to teach and show students different things. A con would be that not all people have access to computers. Also it may be very time consuming for teachers to prepare a virtual tour.
